Summer weather can change quickly but once the heat settles in getting dressed gets a lot easier. We reach for linen, cotton, dresses and shorts that feel cool without looking too casual.
These are the pieces we are wearing now, plus the easy ways we would style them.
#1 Linen for the Hottest Hours
Linen is the first thing we reach for when the temperature really climbs. Its natural, slightly open structure lets air move through and allows body heat to escape. It also sits away from the skin instead of clinging and releases moisture quickly, which helps on a long, hot day.
The shape matters too. A wide leg or relaxed shirt gives linen room to do what it does best. The Wexford Trouser has plenty of movement without looking like a beach pant. Wear it with the Gabi Popover as a set, or add a fitted cotton Lilla P tank and flat sandals.
The Linen Front Tie Shirt adds shape without needing to be tucked. The Boyfriend Button Down is the looser option and works buttoned, half tucked or open over a tank. Don’t worry about pressing out every wrinkle - linen is supposed to look relaxed.
#2 Cotton for Real Life
Where linen is about maximum airflow, cotton is about soft, everyday comfort. It absorbs moisture instead of trapping it, feels gentle against the skin and is durable enough to wear and wash on repeat. That makes it especially useful for full days in the city, travel and anything involving more than sitting still.
Cotton also gives you more choice in texture and structure. The Textured Cotton Shirt and Drawstring Pant are light and relaxed, with enough surface detail that they look like an outfit without much styling. Wear them together, or pair either piece with a simple white tank.
The Shelley Tank and Madeline Patch Pocket Pant show the more structured side of cotton. Both are made from Frank & Eileen’s 100% cotton Famous Denim. Shelley is slightly cropped with buttons down the back, while Madeline has a flat-front pull-on waist, patch pockets and a full wide leg.
#3 One Piece, Outfit Done
When it is too hot to plan a top and a bottom, a dress does the work for you.
The Linen Blend Romper is the shortest option, with a defined waist and pockets. The Maxi Shirtdress is relaxed and easy. Push up the sleeves, add flat sandals and leave it at that.
The Jordie Dress is the feminine option, with black gingham, a smocked waist and a full A-line skirt. The Maxi Polo Dress is sportier, with a collar, v-neck, pockets and an easy maxi shape. Both work during the day and can handle dinner with a quick shoe change.
#4 Shorts Are Getting Longer
One of the biggest shorts updates this summer is length. Knee-grazing Bermudas and relaxed jorts are back, usually with a mid or high rise and a wider leg opening. They give you more coverage than a traditional cutoff but still feel current.
The Voyage Short and Striped Drawstring Short are the lighter, slightly dressier options. Their vertical stripes help make the legs look longer, and the waist details mean a simple tank or tee is enough.
For denim, the Tove gives you a clean neutral option and the Ex-Boyfriend has a softer, relaxed Bermuda shape. The MOTHER pairs go longer: the Mid Rise Maven has a loose leg and frayed knee-length hem, while the Undercover has a high rise, wide leg and cleaner finish.
The easiest update: try a longer, looser short and keep the top simple.
#5 The Sale Pieces Worth Looking At
